In today's frozen pizza review we visit Sainsbury's Local on Buchannan Street (Glasgow). Their frozen section is nested at the very back of the shop and lacks the number of frozen pizza options you would expect. I have been eating more frozen pizza than normal recently so decided to go for something I thought looked unique, which happened to be the 'White Rabbit 100% Plant-Based Vegan and Gluten Free Pizza'. As with vegan food, this pizza also comes at a premium price of £4.25, by far the most expensive review so far.

Nutrition

The pizza sits at 350g, placing it on the smaller end of the size spectrum. For this size and a vegan product, I would say the pizza has a surprisingly high content of; saturates (14.35g, 71% RI) and salt (5.74g, 95%RI), all other values are relatively lower than standard from my experience. 

How long does a frozen pizza take to cook?

The cooking time was 25 minutes, they advertise 14-18 minutes, I would argue that it definitely needs longer than that.

Eating the Pizza

Looking at the pizza, it didn’t look visually appetising, but this was expected. Getting into eating the pizza I was very pleasantly surprised, the sourdough was lovely and crisp, and the tomato and MozzaRisella® were great, would’ve never guessed this was a vegan pizza. Adding to this the toppings of pesto and sundried tomatoes complimented each other beautifully, as advertised this tasted more like a traditional Italian pizza than the regular heavily processed American pizza, I am more used to. I must knock points off for the size and the craving for some form of meat alternative like Quorn on the pizza. But I believe for some people, this would genuinely be one of their favourite pizzas, for me, it’s an 8. That places White Rabbit’s pizza at a 4.3 on the quality for price scale.
