Lewis Capaldi's Pizza- The Big Sexy Meaty One

Image
Lewis Capaldi and frozen pizzas weren't two things I would previously have associated with each other; however, the Scottish singer-songwriter has recently brought out two frozen pizzas available in Iceland supermarkets and selected Tesco stores. I found the 'Big Sexy' pizzas in  Hillhead's Iceland  (Glasgow), a ten-second walk from the subway station. On today's frozen pizza review journey, we will be trying 'The Big Sexy Meaty One', as while both pizzas cost a staggering £5 (the most expensive of the series), only the meat pizza contains what I'd consider toppings. Nutrition Notable toppings include; pepperoni, pork shreddings, bacon and hot pepperoni sausage nduja style. Nutritionally this pizza isn’t healthy, as one would expect, it contains 8.2g of salt (137%RI*), 22g of saturated fat (73%RI) and 30g of sugar (25%RI). Interestingly Lewis Capaldi’s pizza also contains 66g of protein. Even though this product is labelled as a big pizza, this pizza is ...

White Rabbit 100% Plant-Based Margherita (Review #4)

Image
(White Rabbit 100% Plant-Based Margherita Frozen Pizza Review) In today's frozen pizza review we visit Sainsbury's Local on Buchannan Street  (Glasgow). Their frozen section is nested at the very back of the shop and lacks the number of frozen pizza options you would expect. I have been eating more frozen pizza than normal recently so decided to go for something I thought looked unique, which happened to be the 'White Rabbit 100% Plant-Based Vegan and Gluten Free Pizza'. As with vegan food, this pizza also comes at a premium price of £4.25, by far the most expensive review so far. Nutrition The pizza sits at 350g, placing it on the smaller end of the size spectrum. For this size and a vegan product, I would say the pizza has a surprisingly high content of; saturates (14.35g, 71% RI) and salt (5.74g, 95%RI), all other values are relatively lower than standard from my experience.  How long does a frozen pizza take to cook? The cooking time was 25 minutes, they advertise...

Carlos Extra Thin Hawaiian Pizza (Review #3)

Image
Carlos Extra Thin Crispy Base Hawaiian Pizza Today's frozen pizza review took us to Glasgow's Aldi on High Street  which had on display an excellent amount of frozen pizza options. Last year this Aldi was my local, so I knew its ins and outs and what I wanted was the Hawaiian Pizza that I had become so used to in 2021.  However, it had been replaced by the newer 'Carlos Extra Thin Crispy Base Hawaiian Pizza'. Which to me just read as; less pizza than I would've got a year ago. Despite this knockback, I still opted for the new-born Extra Thin Hawaiian at £1.79, as it was the closest to what I was craving .                                         Frozen Pizza Nutrition As a Hawaiian pizza, the toppings obviously featured ham and pineapple. Sitting below the main toppings were mozzarella and edam cheese with a tomato base. Edam really stuck out to me as a cheese I never really se...

Tesco Own-Brand: Four Cheese Pizza (Review #2)

Image
Tesco's Stonebaked Thin Four Cheese Frozen Pizza For today's frozen pizza review I went into central Glasgow to have a look at Tesco Express on Sauchiehall Street . The options were good for the size of the store, with there being mainly; own-brand, Chicago Town, and some pricey alternatives. I was in the mood for having something basic, so opted for Tesco's own-brand ‘Four Cheese Pizza’, priced at a reasonable £1.55. Frozen Pizza Nutrition In terms of nutritional value, the pizza is better than most, saturated fat is a bit high (17.4g, 88%RI), but; fat, sugars and salt all sit below 50% of the reference intake. The serving size is on the small side, I’d recommend having a side to eat with this one. How long does a frozen pizza take to cook? Interestingly the packaging advertised a 12-minute cooking time from frozen, which, it just about lived up to for me, with 13 minutes in the oven. Eating the Frozen Pizza The pizza doesn’t taste too different from a traditional marg...

Trattoria Alfredo- Meat Feast Pizza (Review #1)

Image
Trattoria Alfredo Take Away Meat Feast Pizza Today's frozen pizza review journey takes us to Maryhill's Lidl in Glasgow . There was a reasonable frozen pizza selection in the back, however, some of this was taken up by two pizzas in a box. Recently, I've been attempting to get back into the gym, so I was searching for a high-protein pizza. Frozen Pizza Nutrition Of Lidl's selection, 'Trattoria Alfredo's; Meat Feast Pizza' stood out to me, containing 57 grams of protein (114%RI).  In my opinion, this pizza is not healthy, as it has high levels of saturated fat (20.6g, 104%) and salt (5.54g, 92% RI). The pizza costs £2.30, arguably, a great price for a sizeable stonebaked pizza with an array of toppings, including; pepperoni, ham, sausage, meatballs and onions. The pizza when taken out of its box appeared appetising and lived up to my perception of size from the packaging.  How long does a Frozen Pizza take to Cook? The cooking time for the meat feast pizza ...
