Lewis Capaldi's Pizza- The Big Sexy Meaty One

Lewis Capaldi and frozen pizzas weren't two things I would previously have associated with each other; however, the Scottish singer-songwriter has recently brought out two frozen pizzas available in Iceland supermarkets and selected Tesco stores. I found the 'Big Sexy' pizzas in Hillhead's Iceland (Glasgow), a ten-second walk from the subway station. On today's frozen pizza review journey, we will be trying 'The Big Sexy Meaty One', as while both pizzas cost a staggering £5 (the most expensive of the series), only the meat pizza contains what I'd consider toppings.

Nutrition

Notable toppings include; pepperoni, pork shreddings, bacon and hot pepperoni sausage nduja style. Nutritionally this pizza isn’t healthy, as one would expect, it contains 8.2g of salt (137%RI*), 22g of saturated fat (73%RI) and 30g of sugar (25%RI). Interestingly Lewis Capaldi’s pizza also contains 66g of protein. Even though this product is labelled as a big pizza, this pizza is smaller than the first reviews by Trattoria Alfredo.

To my surprise when opening this product, the inside packaging was already torn, this was disheartening and lost the pizza points on quality.

Eating the Frozen Pizza

Taking my first bite I instantly loved the combination of toppings, especially the flaky pieces of pork which when cooked high enough are wonderfully crispy. The cheese-to-tomato ratio was perfect for me with neither overshadowing the toppings. This pizza reminded me a lot of Domino's meat feast pizza in both taste and smell. The nduja adds a little bit of spice in little sections of the pizza, yet isn’t overpowering. Weirdly the pizza got nicer the further I got through it and as it cooled down. I’d go as far as to say this is the best-frozen pizza I’ve ever had; it gets a 9.3. Placing it as a 4.3 on the quality for price scale.
